Words of Inspiration and Motivation

“The moment I decided to follow instead of lead, I discover the joys of becoming a part of a small child’s world”.
                       Janet Gonzalez-Mena

“The best way to improve a child’s performance is to teach the child, not test the child”.

I can relate to Janet Gonzales-Mena's quote. I have always been a leader but working with young children has definitely taught me that we must allow them to take the lead and we need to follow. Children learn through exploring, especially at that young age and if they lead we can be there to help guide them.

I believe in Sam Meisel's quote regarding teaching a child rather then testing the child. I understand the importance of tests, however, I believe children need to be taught and assessed in ways that meet their individual learning styles.

I have learned that If you teach the child they will always know what they learned but if you test the child they only can relate temporarily.

I have learned that if you follow a child you can learn more from that than a textbook or a journal article.
